5 Minutes with Mychelle

Fast-rising Hackney singer songwriter Mychelle speaks to us about her latest EP It’s Not YOU It’s Me, the story behind it, and loads more!

Hey Mychelle! Congrats on the release of your latest EP It’s Not YOU It’s Me! The EP has received rave reviews. How has it been for you to see the great reaction to the release?

“It’s really nice to know that people like the project. I am so grateful that I get to write songs and put them out in to the world so any positive review is an honour.”

Was there something in particular that drove and inspired you to put together the EP, and if so what was that?

“The project is mainly about the ending of relationships whether it be with a partner or just someone close to me.”

Which track of yours should a first-time listener start with, and why?

“I would say ‘Tightrope’, the first track of the EP.”

Describe for us in three words the vibe of one of your gigs.

“Open, Intimate & Honest.”

As an artist, what do you want listeners to get from your music?

“ I hope people feel connected. I hope it’s like they’re listening to their mate telling her life story but there are nuggets of wisdom that come out of it.”
